A team of scientists go to try to explore an uncharted island when they unknowingly enter the domain of Kong. Together they must fight to get off the island, because they quickly become to realise that Kong isn’t the thing they should be fearing the most.

Is The Plot Interesting?

I liked the story but what lets this movie down is the character development, or lack of character development I should say. You don’t care about the characters, therefore you’re not bothered about what happens to them. This really lets the plot down.

Kong - Skull Island 2

Is The Acting Good?

There’s nothing wrong with the acting, but because the characters are nonsensical you’re don’t care what happens to them. The movie has such a good cast and they’re not used to the best of their ability.

Is The Directing Good?

Jordan Vogt-Roberts brings a certain style to movie that does help the movie a lot. The way he directed Kong: Skull Island has a very powerful feel to it which helps when conveying Kong’s power on-screen.

Is The Cinematography Good?

The movie is shot well and uses slow motion, if not too much, quite well. The shots they get of Kong next to the characters emphasises his strength and power over the island and the people on the island.

Is It Worth Watching?

I think the movie overall is quite entertaining but they missed a great opportunity to include an emotional side to the movie by not adding any significant depth to any of the characters.

Kong’s a pretty good king. Keeps to himself, mostly. But you don’t go into someone’s house and start dropping bombs, unless you’re picking a fight.

– John C. Reilly as Hank Marlow
