Filmed over 12 years to represent a boy growing up in real-time, we’re shown snapshots of Mason’s (Ellar Coltrane) life from road trips and family dinners to birthdays and graduations and all the moments in between.

Is The Plot Interesting?

Watching this young boy and his sister grow up before our eyes is mesmerizing and really captured my attention from the beginning. Boyhood shows us the reality of childhood like no other film has before.

Is The Acting Good?

Boyhood was cast so well that all of the performances feel really natural and genuine which is absolutely perfect for this movie. You couldn’t ask for anything more from the cast.

Is The Directing Good?

Nobody could have directed Boyhood like Richard Linklater did. He had so much passion for the project that it seeps into every part of the movie, from the directing to the script itself.

Is The Cinematography Good?

The cinematography wasn’t the main focus of the movie, however I do think that it worked for the type of movie that Boyhood is and added to the emotional depth this movie was prepared to go.

Is It Worth Watching?

Although it does have its slow parts at times, I think Boyhood is definitely worth a watch. It has amazing performances, a well written script and brilliant directing from Richard Linklater.

You know how everyone’s always saying seize the moment? I don’t know, I’m kinda thinking it’s the other way around. You know, like the moment seizes us.
