Summary

Following the early life of Queen Victoria, from her coronation at the age of 18 to her marriage to Prince Albert, and her relationship with Lord Melbourne who was Prime Minister at the time.

Is The Plot Interesting?

Some episodes have their slow parts, in which the characters are the centre of attention and are what keep you interested, but overall Victoria has enough exciting and dramatic parts to keep you engaged.

Is The Acting Good?

Jenna Coleman shines as the young monarch and has great on-screen chemistry with John Hughes (Prince Albert) and Rufus Sewell (Lord Melbourne). I also thought Victoria was very well cast.

Is The Directing Good?

The directing didn’t do as much for the show as it would seem – I think the characters influenced the plot more than the directors did if I’m totally honest. Although there were moments throughout the season with some great directing.

Is The Cinematography Good?

Queen Victoria ruled her country in a certain way, and I felt like in some small way the filmmakers of Victoria used her determination and resilience as a base for the editing and cinematography we see on the screen.

Is It Worth Watching?

Victoria didn’t have the grand ending I was quite expecting but the rest of the series certainly makes up for it. I found it to be well acted and very captivating when it was at its best.

4/5

We are not amused.
