Some people believe that there are dragons in the woods. Grace (Howard) thinks these are just tall tales, until she meets Pete (Fegley). Pete is a 10-year-old orphan who says he lives in the woods with a dragon called Elliot. Grace then sets out to investigate this claim.
Is The Plot Interesting?
The pace slowed down a little after the first 30 minutes and, if I’m honest, I did start to get a little bit bored. And that shouldn’t happen at all during any movie because it ruins the experience.
Is The Acting Good?
I enjoyed watching the performances in Pete’s Dragon; they were very entertaining. This is the first thing I’ve seen Oakes Fegley in and I can’t wait to see more from him. Everyone in the movie gave good performances.
Is The Directing Good?
The directing is actually quite good. The movie, visually, is very effective which is really down to the good directing. At times it could have been a bit better but overall it was decent.
Is The Cinematography Good?
Don’t give me wrong, it wasn’t bad cinematography but it could have been better. It didn’t have a lasting effect on the scenes where it was strong and as a result it let the movie down a little bit.
Is It Worth Watching?
I would say Pete’s Dragon is worth renting but I wouldn’t buy it. I have a feeling that it will be quite hard to watch a second time due to its slow pace. But kids will love this film and all its magic.
I know the forest like the back of my hand. I wouldn’t have missed a dragon.
