When his mother dies Hank Palmer (Downey Jr.) goes back to his hometown for the funeral. Before he goes back home his father, Judge Joseph Palmer (Duvall), is arrested for a hit-and-run death. Hank takes on the case, despite the resentful old man’s complaints.

Is The Plot Interesting?

If a courtroom drama is done well they can be really interesting and compelling and luckily this movie falls into the interesting and compelling category. The Judge has some great courtroom moments that are quite tense.

The Judge 2

Is The Acting Good?

Robert Downey Jr. impresses me once again. At times he does play Hank Palmer a little bit like Tony Stark but it gets less noticeable as the movie progresses. Robert Duvall gives an amazing performance as well.

Is The Directing Good?

The Judge is directed well by David Dobkin, this isn’t the type of movie he usually directs but he makes the transition look easy. He sets the tone of the movie perfectly and creates the atmosphere that it needed.

The Judge 1

Is The Cinematography Good?

The cinematography is one of the things that gave the movie this certain tone and style that I liked. It sets the movie apart from the rest of the courtroom dramas that are around today.

Is It Worth Watching?

The Judge is worth watching because it has this certain tone about it that I really enjoyed and haven’t seen before in a movie or TV show. The acting from the entire cast is great as well.

My father is a lot of unpleasant things, but murderer is not one of them.
