When Andrew Neiman (Miles Teller), an ambitious young jazz drummer, enrolls in an elite music conservatory he gets instructor Terence Fletcher (J.K. Simmons) who is known for his terrifying teaching methods.
Is The Plot Interesting?
The only reason I watched this movie is because I decided to watch all the movies nominated for the best picture award at the 87th Academy Awards not that long ago and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the plot.
Is The Acting Good?
J.K. Simmons really gets into his role as terrifying music teacher Terence Fletcher, leaving us in painful anticipation as to what he’d do next after every scene. Miles Teller also brings something to the movie as young jazz drummer Andrew Neiman.
Is The Directing Good?
Whiplash has really good directing. The movie has a very clear and focused narrative throughout making it really easy to follow which is down to the good directing of Damien Chazelle.
Is The Cinematography Good?
The cinematography goes really well with the tone of the movie. It emphasises the stress and worry Andrew Neiman is going through but also the ruthlessness of his teacher Terence Fletcher.
Is It Worth Watching?
Overall Whiplash has great performances, excellent directing and some good cinematography. You should definitely go and check out Whiplash because it’s a really good watch that I would recommend to anyone.
Not quite my tempo!
