Set during the American Civil War, Lincoln follows Abraham Lincoln (Daniel Day-Lewis) as he battles to end the war and permanently abolish slavery through the 13th Amendment with the support of his family.
Is The Plot Interesting?
I usually like movies based off true events (I find them fascinating) so I was quite excited for Lincoln but it was so uneventful, apart from the last half hour, that it seemed longer than it is and it was just not interesting what so ever.
Is The Acting Good?
Daniel Day-Lewis is the perfect Abraham Lincoln, he’s everything I thought Abraham Lincoln would be like. His mannerisms as well are just unbelievable. Sally Field also excels as his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln.
Is The Directing Good?
Steven Spielberg does his special Steven Spielberg magic and directs this movie beautifully. You can tell that he’s done loads of research about Abraham Lincoln and has worked closely with Tony Kushner, the screenwriter.
Is The Cinematography Good?
Lincoln has some really good and intriguing cinematography. It’s not the best I’ve ever seen but it does do a better job at keeping us engaged than the plot does at certain points in the movie, at least for me it did.
Is It Worth Watching?
Everything from the acting, directing and cinematography are amazing, it’s just the first two hours seem to go on forever because they are relatively uneventful and really let it down in my opinion.
Do you think we choose the times into which we are born? Or do we fit the times we are born into?
